Bioinformatics and Systems Biology PhD program was launched in 2018 by the Departments of Bioengineering, Molecular Biology and Genetics, and Computer Engineering.
This is the first PhD Program in Turkey that brings Bioinformatics and Systems Biology together. Medium of instruction is English. The program provides the participants with opportunities to do research, among others, in the analysis of genome-wide biological data and in the design of personalized strategies for the prevention and treatment of diseases.
The research in the program is supported by GTU Scientific Research Fund and The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK). International projects are also conducted.
Research Areas:
Bioinformatics Analysis of Genome Sequences and Omics Data
Computational Systems Biology of Infectious Diseases
Computational Systems Biology of Neurodegenerative Diseases
Modeling of Cell Fate and Epigenetics in Stem Cells
Systems Biology of Immune Systems
Metabolic Modeling of Cancer
Systems Biology of Obesity
Modeling of Signaling Pathways and Metabolism
