The Climate Change Master’s Program at the Institute of Earth and Marine Sciences, Gebze Technical University (GTU-YDBE), which was established on October 21, 2014, aims to foster an environmentally conscious perspective. Focused on maintaining a sustainable balance that minimally impacts natural resources, the institute began operations at Çayırova Campus in 2023.

In the Climate Change Master's Program, research studies are focused on developing predictions for the future by providing an understanding of the mechanisms of the phenomenon of climate change, the effects of which are felt more and more day by day, and preventing negative effects in line with these predictions, as well as adapting to these effects.

The Master's Program in Climate Change combines natural and engineering sciences to educate students, enabling them to gain a deep understanding of climate change. The program not only provides comprehensive knowledge about the fundamental causes and consequences of climate change but also aims to equip students with skills to develop solutions for climate adaptation and the mitigation of climate change impacts. The curriculum includes courses on meteorology, natural disasters, paleoclimatology, energy-environment relationships, climate adaptation strategies, and renewable energy. Students acquire a broad range of knowledge and skills, from monitoring and analyzing climate data to studying extreme weather events and palaeoclimatological findings. This multidisciplinary approach ensures that graduates are well-prepared to address the challenges posed by climate change and contribute to sustainable solutions for the future.
