Environmental Engineering
GTU Department of Environmental Engineering founded in 1994 is located in Çayırova Campus. Being a specialized academic unit offering only master’s and doctoral education, the Department carries out extensive and advanced research activities in environmental pollution and control fields, and develops creative solutions to the environmental problems of our local industry.
The major research areas include:
- Biotechnology,
- Membrane Technologies,
- Ozonation,
- Advance Oxidation,
- Electrochemical Treatment Processes,
- Several Physicochemical Water, Soil And Air Treatment Technologies
- Natural Resource Management and Modelling.
Our 6000m2 modern department building contains 7 research and 3 accredited analysis laboratories which are accredited for the most of the analysis by TURKAK (Turkish Accreditation Agency).
- The research laboratories are equipped with necessary lab and pilot-scale systems and modern measurement devices considering the research activities performed.
- The accredited analysis laboratories facilitate analysis of water, waste water, sea water, mud, ash, soil and internal-external air.
Having Environmental Impact Assessment Certificate, the department is capable of preparing environmental impact assessment reports and gives consultancy for waste water treatability assessment, waste water treatment plant feasibility projects, waste water treatment plant operation, environmental management, environmental inventory and ISO 14001.
