Purpose of the course: The aim of this course is to provide students with the basic knowledge and skills necessary to prepare a scientific research proposal, to choose the necessary research methods and techniques, and to discuss the findings. With this course, students will understand the ability to prepare a research report in accordance with scientific writing and ethical rules.

Week 1: Scientific thinking, what is work and the processes to be followed in scientific work.
Week 2: What is academic writing, what are the differences between academic writing and other types of writing?
Week 3: Ethical issues in scientific research, plagiarism, forgery, and other ethical violations
Week 4: Types of scientific publications; article, paper, thesis, poster, book, and patent (Examination of sample scientific studies in the field of GeomaticsEngineering)
Week 5: Literature review (online databases, arrangement of resources collected in libraries and archives) and determination of research problem, homework-1
Week 6: Scientific writing information management system and tools; use of reference manager program
Week 7: Elements of academic texts (title, abstract, keywords, introduction, method, finding, discussion, conclusion)
Week 8: Basic rules of academic writing (title writing and considerations, writing summary section), homework-2
Week 9: Basic rules in academic writing, summary writing, selection of keywords and case studies in the field of Geomatics Engineering)
Week 10: Basic rules in academic writing (writing the introductory section, emphasizing the purpose and sub-purposes of the study), Homework-3
