Purpose of the course: The aim of this course is to introduce mine geology terminology, exploitation of mineral deposits, the relationship between structural elements and mineral deposits, mineralization and folding, exploration of mineral deposits, hydrothermal alteration and its use in mineral exploration, stratigraphic and lithological criteria in mineral exploration, the use of geophysical techniques, and geochemical exploration methods.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. İdentify different methods of mine geology and exploration of mineral deposits.

    3. To be able to plan and implement fieldwork within the scope of Earth Science and/or Marine Science
    4. To be able to design and conduct experimental studies in the field of Earth Science and/or Marine Science that he/she specializes in and to be able to interpret the relevant physical, chemical, biological occurring in nature
    5. To be able to produce and carry out R&D projects in the field of Earth and/or Marine science in written form in detail
    6. To be able to fulfill their responsibilities fully and on time in group work and scientific projects
    7. To be aware of and follow the rapid technological and scientific change in the field of Earth and Marine science
    8. Adopting an open approach to continuous learning and following up-to-date and reliable sources of information
    9. To have a good command of Turkish and English terms related to Earth and Marine Sciences and to be able to express ideas effectively in both languages orally and in writing
    10. To be able to write reports, scientific articles and theses at international level in accordance with ethical rules
    11. To follow the developments in the protection and use of natural resources and to have a good command of the legislation
    12. To follow natural disasters around the world and to develop recommendations on minimizing the damage caused by natural disasters at the national level
