Purpose of the course: Smart city solutions that aim to solve urban problems and to improve the quality of living are gaining importance for effective management of constantly growing and crowded cities. Urban GIS, urban-based applications of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), makes integration of data with information technology and decion-making based on real-time information possible. In this course, in urban services such as e-municipality especially, zoning, transportation, environment, infrastructure, security, and energy; it is aimed to determine technology, policy, and data infrastructure components of Urban GIS to support decision making processes.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Evaluate required components to build urban GIS; review software, hardware, data, method, and personnel components
